Come see the sandhill cranes

Club plans guided tour to check out spectacular winter visitors

Birdwatchers and nature lovers are encouraged to join us Sunday afternoon, December 30,
to view the spectacular sandhill cranes at their wintering grounds in south Sacramento County.

We will meet at the Cosumnes River Preserve main visitor center at 13501 Franklin Boulevard at 3:15 p.m. From there we will rendezvous with a tour guide from Save Our Sandhill Cranes, who will give a brief presentation on these amazing birds and then stroll with us to nearby wetlands to observe them as they return from the fields and nest for the evening. Everyone is encouraged to bring binoculars, cameras and birding guides.

For more information about the Cosumnes River Preserve, please view its website at
www.cosumnes.org.

To get to the preserve from Sacramento, take Interstate 5 south to the Twin Cities Road exit (marked
with a binoculars sign for wildlife viewing) about midway between Stockton and Sacramento. Take
Twin Cities Road exit and go east exactly one mile to the first stop sign. Turn right at the first stop
sign onto Franklin Boulevard and go 1.7 miles. The visitor center is located on the left side of Franklin
Boulevard. Continue down Franklin Boulevard and park in the parking lot just past the visitor center.
