Sharpen those poems

Poetry reading planned in Davis

April is National Poetry Month, and the book club will make its contribution April 10 in Davis with its annual poetry reading.

Each participant should bring 14 copies of poems that can be read in the span of 5 to 10 minutes. This year the club will focus on poems that are humorous, whimsical, surprising, or imaginative and creative in the use of language, such as made-up words and interesting metaphors. Think E. E. Cummings, Ogden Nash or Dorothy Parker.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. at Village Pizza and Grill, 403 G Street in Davis (across from a Regal movie theater that has a parking garage connected to it, accessed from 4th St.).  Bring cash instead of a check to pay for dinner.
