How explorers found their way across the ocean

Book club to review "Longitude"

"Longitude," by writer Dava Sobel, will be discussed at the August 13 meeting of the book club.
The book, first published in 1995, is a fascinating story of the 18th century invention of a marine chronometer to measure longitude and the long struggle of its inventor to be rewarded.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner at the Sacramento home of Ross and Liz Kuehner. They will provide a main dish and wine.  Contributions of side dishes, appetizers, bread and dessert are welcome.  RSVP to Liz with what you will bring. Her email address is elizard@surewest.net.
