September Book is Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
The Book Club will convene on Wednesday, September 12, at 6:30 p.m. for a potluck at Liz and Ross Kuehner's house and a discussion of Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood's apocalyptic novel of "speculative fiction." The story unfolds in a world of genetic engineering and corporate control and focuses on the frightening phenomenon of unintended consequences. Liz and Ross Kuehner picked the book, and Liz says that it also manages to be funny in parts. Liz will provide a vegetarian main dish. Side dishes, salads, desserts, and perhaps hors d'oeuvres would be appreciated. RSVP to Liz at elizard@surewest.net, and let her know what you will bring. She will provide directions.
