Struggling government

Book club pick examines the threat posed by ineffective policies

"Why Government Fails So Often and How It Can Do Better" by Peter H. Schuck will be the subject of the Oct. 8 book club meeting.

Schuck, a professor emeritus of law at Yale,  argues that ineffective policies create public discontent and threaten to undermine democratic legitimacy. Schuck posits that the perceived failures in federal government are both measurable and structural—and transcend partisan bickering.

The meeting, hosted by Dan Blatt, will be at the Wonderful Chinese Restaurant in Citrus Heights. It begins at 6:30. Let Dan know if you will be attending. His email address is blatt2@futurecasts.com.
