Second Saturday walk to midtown galleries is on tap

Join us Saturday, March 14, for Sacramento’s famed Second Saturday Art Walk. Art galleries and stores in the city stay open late so you can enjoy an evening of art, music, wine-tasting and people-watching.  It is Sacramento’s monthly celebration of the art and artists of our community.

The event picks up steam around 5 p.m. and becomes increasingly wild and crazy as the night progresses. Hundreds of people gather, creating a street party atmosphere.  The event brings out of the woodwork an enormous volume of humanity in all its stripes and spots.

For those of us who would like to view art and meet artists, we will take in the event early.  Wear comfortable shoes. Maps will be provided with the path to five of midtown’s best-known galleries, closely located to one another, passing small storefronts.

The schedule is simple: We plan to gather between 5-5:30 p.m. at LowBrau restaurant, 1050 20th St., in midtown Sacramento. At 5:40 p.m.. we will start the tour with a visit to the Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. Other galleries include Atelier 20, Gallery 2110/Sacramento Art Complex, the Alex Bult Gallery, and the Kennedy Gallery Art Center.

There is $2 parking at the East End parking garage on 17th Street between Capitol Avenue and L Street. Here are other parking options.
