Deadline nears for Napa Valley art trip
Guided tour of di Rosa art museum, home to 2,000 contemporary pieces by regional artists, is planned -- plus wine tasting
Enjoy seeing an impressive collection of contemporary art in a beautiful Napa Valley setting and top it off with the taste of fine wine. That’s what the club has planned for Saturday, Oct. 10, with a guided tour of the di Rosa art museum.
The deadline for signing up is Oct. 5. The event will be limited to 25 people. Please use the RSVP form to reserve your spot and click on the appropriate Pay Now icon to make your payment. The art tour is $15; the tour and wine tasting is $30. In the event of inclement weather, the wine tasting will be canceled and the fee refunded.
Located on 217 scenic acres in the Carneros region, di Rosa houses approximately 2,000 works of art by 800 regional artists working from the 1960s to the present. A wide range of styles, media, and subject matter provides an overview of the creative energy and freedom to experiment that characterize this region of California.
Originally assembled by the late Rene and Veronica di Rosa, the collection was opened to the public in 1997 and continues to grow as new acquisitions are added to the galleries and grounds. The di Rosa collection includes significant works by Mark di Suvero, Robert Arneson, Roy De Forest, Enrique Chagoya, Manuel Neri, Joan Brown, William T. Wiley, Robert Hudson, Richard Shaw, Bruce Nauman, Deborah Butterfield, John Buck, David Best, Larry Sultan, Raymond Saunders, Bruce Conner, Alan Rath, Nathan Oliveira, Mildred Howard, Paul Kos, Viola Frey, Stephen De Staebler, and many others.
The tour will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by an hour to enjoy conversation and fine wine from Silverpoint Cellars at an outdoor picnic area. Silverpoint was founded in 2008 by Barry Murphy, Harvard College Class of 1973, and his wife, Rosemary Dunbar.
On-site parking is available. We will meet in the Gatehouse Gallery, up the ramp from the parking lot just past the main gate. Di Rosa is located at 5200 Sonoma Highway, Napa, 94559.
