Book Club: May 9th

Book Club to discuss Strangers in Their Own Land

For May's Book Club, the host has selected Arlie Russell Hochschild's Strangers in Their Own Land.

This book is all about trying to understand people different from us---in this case Berkeley meets Bayou.  It is the story of a politically progressive U.C. sociologist trying not only to study, but to personally empathize with politically arch-conservative, rural Louisiana Tea Party members.

The local Harvard Club book club, which has been in existence for ten years, normally meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm for a potluck dinner and to discuss a wide-ranging selection of books -- fiction, poetry, biography, history, etc. They always enjoy having other interested people attend and participate.

The Book Club will meet  this month at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 9th at Bill Meyer's house.

Please email Bill for more information.
