Book club meeting
"Thinner than Skin" author will join the talk
“Thinner than Skin,” a novel about identity and belonging by Uzma Aslam Khan, will be discussed at the Nov. 13 meeting of the book club. The novel centers around a love story between a young Pakistani man trying to make his way as photographer in America, and the daughter of a Pakistani father and German mother brought up in the United States, who wants to return to a country she's never seen.
As a special treat, the author, a school friend of host Sadia Niazi in Karachi, Pakistan, will participate in the event via Skype beginning at 5:30 p.m. Guests are asked to arrive at Sadia’s home by 5:15 p.m.
For more information or to let Sadia know what dish you’re bringing for the potluck, contact her at sadiafniazi@hotmail.com.
In addition, the book club will start lining up hosts for the first few months of 2014. If you are unable to make the Nov. 13 meeting but would like to host a meeting in January, February or March, contact Bill at wemyers@cal.net.
