How food affects brain health

"Grain Brain" will be discussed at book club meeting

Did you know that we all have a 50/50 chance of getting Alzheimer’s if we live long enough?  Did you know that we can change those odds in our favor? Did you know that the brain is made up of 70% fat? Did you know that there is no such thing as “bad cholesterol”? Did you know that sugar causes inflammation in our bodies and that this destroys more brain cells than anything else?  How would you like a healthier brain?
All these questions are addressed in “Grain Brain” by Dr. David Perlmutter. The book deals with the impact of the food we consume on brain health. Perlmutter is a practicing neurologist, and nutritionist, with doctorates in both fields. He treats patients who have everything from ADHD to depression with diet changes.
This book will be discussed at the Feb.12 meeting of the book club, which will meet at the Antelope home of Wayne Robinson. The event will begin with a potluck at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Wayne at wbrphd@gmail.com.
