Book Club: June 9th
Book Club to discuss The Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson
The book for June is The Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson. Isaacson writes the story about Jennifer Doudna who won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 2020. Her work on RNA and Crispr has had a profound impact on humankind already. We witnessed the benefits this year with record breaking development of vaccines but prior to that there was a lot of coverage on how this work was going to eliminate some diseases altogether. Her work, along with others, also raises a whole host of moral questions that I personally find difficult to parse.
The Zoom meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9th, at 4:30 pm, and participants are welcome to enjoy a beverage, alcoholic or not, during the meeting! Marilyn Edling will be hosting the meeting. The meeting login details will be sent a day before the event. Please RSVP to Sadia Niazi at sadiafniazi@hotmail.com.
